MBTI Preferences of Republicans and Democrats

Ever wondered if your Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) preferences relate to your political preferences?

Allen Hammer published several statistics about the political affiliations of each MBTI preference in Snapshots of the 16 Types. In his research, he found that:

Republicans preferred INTJ, ENTJ, ESTJ, and ISTJ (the executive types). The ESTJs are more than twice as likely as the INFPs and INFJs to be Republicans.

Democrats were typically NF or INFJ. In fact, those people with a preference for Feeling are more likely than other types to identify themselves as Democrats.

Independents preferred NTP.

Do these statistics hold true for you?

Cool! I'm an ENFP, and a democrat so it holds true for me! :)

I've posted a fairly extensive discussion of the CPP results here:

http://www.politicaltypes.com/content/view/24/56/

The discussion also summarizes the three different slides for Republicans, Democrats, and Independents into one type table for easy comparison.

The results indeed suggest a relationship between type and political party membership as Alan Hammer's analysis suggests. That NTPs would self-identify as Independent clearly reflects the high value these types place on autonomy. On the other hand, the SJs report lower identification with Independent, as might be expected. Yet, the SJs also affiliate with the Democatic Party (as well as Republican). Could this tendency be an expression of the SJ preference to respect experience and tradition? And thus an identification with the traditional parties?

Another observation and question. Although the NFs appear to identify as Democrats, this tendency seems stronger for the INFs. The results for the ENFs shows these types to be fairly equally distributed across each political identification. Any insights, ENFs?

As for TJs being Republicans, there is an interesting difference in the distribution of STJs vs. NTJs in that STJs tend to report a higher identification with Democrats than do NTJ? Given that the CPP study does not address the issue of liberal and conservative leanings (political ideology), is it possible that the STJ Democrats are conservative (Reagan) Democrats whereas the NTJs the "Wall Street" Republicans (keeping in mind that this data was collected prior to the current fiasco)?

Definitely holds true for me. Have found the oversimplified bifurcation maddening all my life.
