I was recently asked what I do all day, and decided to blog about it. Here ya go!
8:00 am- Morning starts as usual: Red Bull, peanut butter toast, playing with my dogs, listening to the news in the background...
8:15 am- Logged in to the laptop and caught myself up on my favorite sites (CPP ICON Success forum, Digg, HRM Today, Brazen Careerist, TMZ, Gizmodo, Engadget, and my Google Reader).
9:11 am- Responded to 4 emails from people wanting one-day training program for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Step II.
9:37 am- Registered for Talent Management Webinar on retaining employees for tomorrow.
9:41 am- Forwarded 7 assessment reports to individuals from my SkillsOne site and set up time for debrief.
9:58 am- Returned voicemail from company wanting a presentation on team building.
10:01 am- Preparing expense report and realized my "Reimbursed Receipts" file is out of control. Decided to break that large file down into 12 separate files (one for each month). Typed out tabs for each file folder.
10:22 am- Moved items from my "To File" folder into the appropriate folders in my filing cabinet.
10:33 am- Fedex arrives with a new Davies-Black book "The Star Profile"
10:35 am- Took a Twitter break to see what's going on in the world. Looks like people think my Amazing Race Twitter version is a great idea. The Amazing Race contestants should only have Twitter as a resource for accomplishing their tasks. They would have to rely on their Twitter network for everything from navigation to trivia questions to translating different languages. I also think there should be a couple on Amazing Race who are friends through Blogging, but have never met in person. I think that would be a dynamic interaction to watch. Thinking of a new blog post- which MBTI type would you prefer as your partner on the Amazing Race. I'm thinking ENTJ for me.
10:40 am- Thinking about Linda McKenna's question to me: "You have mentioned before that there are some cases where the type can change, such as when there is trauma or other major life changes. How about spiritual enlightenment? Could that bring about a change?" That's a big question to tackle. My personal guess is no, but I'm asking our research team if any studies have been done on this topic. Such an interesting question, though. Anyone else have an idea?
10:47 am- Back to my to-do list for the day. Goal: Get email inbox under 100 items. Mark priority items that need follow up.
11:22 am- Goal accomplished. Down to 18 items and 9 follow up flags.
11:24 am- Developing description of speech on Using the MBTI for Team Building which I will present to Tri State human Resources Association in November.
11:42 am- Registered for Webinar by High Performing Systems- The Science of Hiring: How to Use Assessments to Identify Top Talent
11:46 am- taking a lunch break and reading the new eBook by Hunter Nuttall- "The Personality Puzzle."
Stay tuned for Part 2!
